First things first...

With the first of the year still in recent memory, today the first African American president was sworn into office, I thought it appropriate to update everyone on the firsts we've been having at the Gonzales house...
Like the first attempt at a post bath veil.

First cold storm in San Diego that warranted Emery's first fashion statement of a decorative fruit hat. First outfit chosen to charm the mall Santa. First Christmas"What do you mean Christmas is once a year! ONCE A YEAR!!!"First Christmas story read with Mommy. First month spent with Grammy and Tata.

First time humoring Tata and laughing at one of his many songsFirst nap with GrammyFirst time that I don't have words to express my gratitude. My mom and dad stayed in San Diego for the month of December to ease our family back into work mode, as Tracy went back to work. They came to the house every day to watch Em while her parents could go to work and not have to deal with the stress of daycare while starting a new job. They rented a place in Mission Bay and for over four weeks, they eased our minds. They got to see their granddaughter, I got to see first hand the selflessness of being a parent. Dad, you say that this was just "paying it forward". When Emery has children of her own one day, I'll remind her of that and give her the gift that you and mom gave us. It's a promise...
First tailgate for the Holiday Bowl.To steal a line from CBS, "A tradition unlike any other". First Holiday Bowl. Emery was great the entire game. She watched the halftime fireworks and didn't cry. Not so sure how she'll do next Holiday Bowl. First New Year's Eve.

First solid foods.

First giggle fit. Try to watch this piece without smiling. It can't be done.
