So the first four weeks have been a lot of sleeping. Sleeping most of the day...
So we've been enjoying the more awake Emery has become with us.
Here's a small video clip of her being awake and Tracy talking to her.
And getting ready for more sleep...
Aunt Lisa came to visit from the Bay Area. Emery loved seeing her Aunt and spending time with her. Here, she's listening intently to Lisa explaining the reasoning behind the Russia and Georgia conflict and the ails of post-Yeltsin Russian leadership.
Just like her mommy, Emery got tired of a history lesson and is right at home on Aunt Lisa.
"Dad, I know you think I'm staring into your eyes but I have to let you in on a little secret...I'm actually staring at that ginormous thing you call a forehead. I mean, that thing is huge, and getting bigger in the four weeks I've known you. I can see my whole reflection--like those full length carnival mirrors."
Aunt Lisa blaming the only one in the room who can't defend herself for the mysterious odor and gaseous sound emanating from her corner of the room.
Em is now 7 pounds 4 oz. Compare an earlier entry of the car seat test in the hospital to four weeks later. Amazing what TLC and a enough breast milk to drown a Northern California fire will do.
Lisa and Em at a girls only visit at our house. Lisa was later reprimanded for already trying to make a shopping date for 2017.
We are so happy that the Mitchells have returned from their hiatus in Colorado. After two years, the happy family are now back in San Diego. Here Zane, Blair, Luke and Em pose for a pic whilst we caught up and shared BBQ burgers. Emery apparently chose this precise moment to practice her air guitar.
For posterity, had to get Em's tiny hands wrapped around my pinkie. Emery honey, it's the other way around. The minute you were born, my life has changed for the better and you'll always have me around your pinkie.
"Still looking at that forehead Dad..."
My cup of pride runneth over...

Oh my gosh she is getting so big! And just getting cuter & cuter - of course her chances of not being cute coming from you 2 was slim to none:) She is 1 month old - wow! Can't wait to see you all in person soon - instead of living through blogs and pictures! You look so happy - so awesome.
